Our food has won a Gold Healthy Eating Award from Shropshire Council. We use a variety of fruit and vegetables to encourage children to eat healthily. Our cook creates a fresh and appealing weekly menu that changes regularly incorporating a range of foods to promote an interest and enjoyment in different foods and flavours.
Breakfast is offered between 7.45 and 8am, weetabix, porridge or toast
Morning snack can be fresh fruit, toasted teacake, slice of wholemeal toast, cheese and apple. The children have milk every day to drink freely provided and are offered water throughout the day and at lunch time.
Lunches are freshly prepared and cooked in our kitchen. Dishes such as vegetable pasta bake, beef chilli or chicken curry with wholegrain rice, roast dinner with vegetables.
Afternoon tea at 4pm may be sandwiches, beans or egg on toast, vegetable sticks and houmous.
Our dishes can be adapted for weaning babies and we will work with parents to ensure a happy time whilst young babies are becoming used to new foods.
If mothers are still breastfeeding, we can arrange a quiet, comfortable space for you to feed at nursery. We can also safely store and use expressed milk for baby during the day.
If your baby has formula milk we can make this freshly for each feed, please provide the milk of your choice and a bottle which we will will clean and sterilise after each feed.
During the year we grow our own food such as tomatoes, strawberries and potatoes as we have found that the children will eat more when they have actively been involved in sowing and growing seeds into plants which provide their food.
